I've had an admitedly rough week, not in that anything big has happened, but I am finiding it hard to get out of bed both mentally and physically. Perhaps it was the whirlwind of last week that has left me feeling haggard. But I know a lot of it has to do with my iliotibial band syndrome. The iliotibial band connects the hip and pelvis to the knee, and the syndorme is a common injury for runners and cyclists, myself the latter. It causes pain and swelling down the side of the leg.
Today I am wearing a knee brace, because I've noticed my knee keeps buckling inward. I guess I should schedule a doctors appointment. -sad face- Anyway, through all of this, I've tried to stay happy and positive this week. Even though the things that I have been doing this week are are semi mind numbing, I'm talking computer games, and tv, the gears have still been turning though for lots of projects coming up. So, here is what I've been favoriting this week.
1// My TGIF Playlist - A few weeks ago I made this TGIF playlist to listen to at work. It started by having Major Lazer - Get Free ft. Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors stuck in my head. This track itself puts me in such a good mood abundant with some summer vibes, and I wanted to keep that feeling going so I decided to make a playlist that pumped me up but in a chill way, if that makes any sense. This playlist gets me feeling confident and detirmined to get some shit done and take no shit. If you ask me that's the perfect Friday attitude. Expect some dance and hip hop influenced tracks, and a few more nostalgic jams for me.
2// GARBAGE PAIL KIDS – WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 30 Years Later, The Adult Variant Series -
Speaking of nostalgia, remember the Garbage Pail Kids? Art Director, Jake Houvenagle, and photographer, Brandon Voges put their minds together to create a reimagining of the grotesque parody of the Cabbage Patch kids 30 years later as adults. The internet is obbsessed with what our favorite characters would look like if they were older, more realistic, lived an alternative lifestyle, and any thing else you can think of, so aging the kids 30 years in a viral idea, even Juxtapose has noticed. This Garbage Pail Kids update is hilarious and impressive, as they are not illustrations, but elaborately created scenes with finished with masterful photo-retouching skills. The attached article includes a lot of behind the scenes photos, and a retouching process video you have to watch. They are planning on releasing more cards, and I can't wait to see them!
3// Wayward Pines - When I was getting my hair done last weekend, everyone at the salon was talking about this show Wayward Pines. The way they described the show, it sounded like it had a Twin Peaks feel, and it was enough to get me interested. I started watching it On Demand, and I am hooked! With an all-star cast and a mysterious and enthralling plot, I am detirmined to try to figure out WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!! (I didn't see last night's show yet, so no spoilers please!) I have a lot of questions, What are those freaky things in the woods? Who is the big boss telling everyone what to do? Why there is so much discrepencies in everyone's time lines? Why are they seemingly collecting people and trapping them in Wayward Pines? It's starting to feel a little bit like Lost. Seeing as M. Knight Shyamalan, is the executive producer, it's no wonder I'm a little confused, but SO intrigued. You can watch it on FOX. I think it's also available on Hulu.
